I Promise To . . .

Lead with common sense...

  • Focus on what’s possible—not what’s convenient to say is “impossible”

  • Seek best practices, expert input, and real-world examples from other communities

  • Dig into the facts before forming conclusions

  • Push past “face value” thinking and pursue workable solutions

Be approachable...

  • Make it easy for citizens to respectfully bring questions and concerns

  • Keep communication open, direct, and constructive

  • Work to build community buy-in, pride, and trust through visibility and responsiveness

Drive accountability...

  • Treat the role seriously—even if it’s not a full-time paid position

  • Ask questions, demand clarity, and follow through

  • Hold city operations to clear expectations and measurable progress

Prioritize smart economic growth...

  • Help answer the hard questions: Why Charleston? What do we offer? What makes us worth choosing?

  • Identify and strengthen local assets, infrastructure, amenities, and incentives

  • Support quality-of-life improvements (parks, recreation, beautification, infrastructure)

  • Promote strategic planning so Charleston becomes a place people want to live—and therefore a place people want to invest

Represent ALL of Charleston...

  • Respect that every neighborhood has different needs, strengths, and challenges

  • Seek input from across town—not just the loudest voices or most connected circles

  • Use open communication to identify what needs improvement and what should be protected or expanded

Charleston can count on me.
